TLG

The TLG is the Technical Liaison Group of ICANN.

It consists of four organizations: the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), the International Telecommunications Union's Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T), the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). The TLG channels technical information and guidance and has both a responsive component and an active "watchdog" component.

The TLG does not have an official webpage but its role can be viewed within ICANN's bylaws.

SSAC

The SSAC is the Security and Stability Advisory Committee of ICANN.

It advises the ICANN community and Board on matters relating to the security and integrity of the Internet's naming and address allocation systems, including operational, administrative and registration matters. SSAC also engages in ongoing threat assessment and risk analysis of the Internet naming and address allocation services.

RSSAC

The RSSAC is the DNS Root Server System Advisory Committee of ICANN.

The RSSAC advises the ICANN Board about the operation of the root name servers of the domain name system, including operational requirements, hardware capacities, operating systems and name server software versions, network connectivity and physical environment. It examines security aspects of the root name server system and review the number, location, and distribution of root name servers.

GNSO

The GNSO is the Generic Names Supporting Organization of ICANN.

The GNSO helps promote the development of Internet policy and encourage diverse and international participation in the technical management of the Internet.

GAC

The GAC is the Governmental Advisory Committee of ICANN.

The GAC's key role is to provide advice to ICANN on issues of public policy. In particular, it considers ICANN's activities and policies as they relate to the concerns of governments, particularly in matters where there may be an interaction between ICANN's policies and national laws or international agreements.

ccNSO

The ccNSO is the Country Code Names Supporting Organization of ICANN.

It is the policy development body for a narrow range of global ccTLD issues within the ICANN structure, including: developing and recommending global policies relating to ccTLDs; nurturing consensus across the ccNSO's community; and co-ordinating with other ICANN Supporting Organizations, committees, and constituencies under ICANN.

ASO

ASO is the Address Supporting Organization (ASO) of ICANN.

The purpose of the ASO is to review and develop recommendations on Internet Protocol (IP) address policy and to advise the ICANN Board.

The ASO was formed on 19 October 1999, when the MoU was signed by representatives of APNIC, ARIN, and RIPE NCC and ICANN. A new Memorandum of Understanding between ICANN and the Number Resource Organization, on behalf of the Regional Internet Registries, was signed on 21 October 2004.

ALAC

ALAC is the At-Large Advisory Committee of ICANN.

It is responsible for considering and providing advice on the activities of the ICANN as they relate to the interests of individual Internet users (the "At-Large" community).
